A LONE RANGER CANNOT SUCCEED
Ms. Upshaw spent her 2015 fall semester learning soldiering tasks designed to mimic tasks taught at the U.S. Army Ranger School. Ranger School is the most elite leadership school in the Army! On November 28th in the Hunter Conference Center at Southern Utah University, she will be presenting on her experience.
The inspiration for this project came form her heavy involvement in ROTC. As a contracted cadet, much of her time is spent in the ROTC classroom planning training events, participating in club activities, and ensuring the welfare of the fellow cadets. This being the beginning of her career as a commissioned officer, she takes this responsibility very seriously. It only made sense to put all the time she spent doing what she loves to an alternative use as her EDGE project!
According to Southern Utah University, the EDGE Program is an opportunity to, "... plan a special project that is designed to help [the student] achieve a unique personal or professional goal. They can select from a variety of experiential programs offered by SUU staff and faculty, or they can design a project from scratch. Each project takes longer than a single semester to complete, giving the student a chance to complete a long-term comprehensive project employers are looking for in resumes and portfolios."
Find out more about this incredible opportunity given to SUU students at the Hunter Conference Center on November 28th! ###
